Opening for The Politics of Properties: Deconstructing Downtown Florence, by Symon Gibson and Tiffany Thomas

The Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery presents The Politics of Properties: Deconstructing Downtown Florence, a group exhibition by Symon Gibson and Tiffany Thomas, which runs through February 28, 2017. The public is invited to an artist reception and opening on Sunday, January 22nd at 3:00 p.m. in the gallery. Admission is free and light refreshments will be provided.

 

The exhibit examines Florence’s downtown development. Both artists were fascinated with what buildings were allowed to stay versus what buildings were torn down throughout the history of Florence. Symons artworks depict recently built buildings in Downtown Florence. Tiffany’s works are based on buildings that were demolished.

Symon Gibson holds a B.A. Degree in Visual Arts from Francis Marion University. He has exhibited work at the Art Trail Gallery and the Francis Marion University Hyman Fine Arts Gallery.

 

Tiffany Thomas holds a B.A. degree in Visual Arts from Francis Marion University. She has exhibited in numerous shows such as the South Carolina Arts Commission Gala, The North Carolina Museum of Art of the Auction, Spartanburg Juried Art Competition, The Heritage Festival and The Pee Dee Regional art Competition.

Both artists own Tthomasarts, an art studio in downtown Florence, South Carolina.
