Family Day at the Florence County Museum

From toddlers to grandparents, Family Days at the Florence County Museum are sure to offer something for everyone. Join FCM the second Saturday of every month from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for Family Day. No registration required. Free of charge.
Colorful Paper Chromatography

Participants will learn how different substances (in this case, colors) move and spread across a paper surface when dissolved in water. Each student will create a wonderful work of art while observing this fascinating scientific process.
Slime Time!
Art Studio
Use basic household supplies in this creative, slimy experiment. Participants will learn about polymers and chemical bonds as they create colorful slime.
Simple Acid and Base Painting
Multipurpose Room
What happens when you mix an acid with a base? Participants will learn the basics of this chemical reaction while creating a colorful abstract painting.

Florence County Museum Children’s Imagination Ball

Let your creativity flow at the 3rd Annual Florence County Museum Imagination Ball, a costumed event for the whole family. Enjoy an evening of creative hands-on activities, music, face painting, delicious food, family costume contest, music and more.
Tickets are $10 per child or $40 per family. Accompanying adults attend free.
Tickets can be purchased at the Florence County Museum or through our website.
The Imagination Ball is sponsored by Chick-fil-A Magnolia Mall Drive-Thru. All proceeds support educational programming at the Florence County Museum.

Environmental Discovery Center – Natural Dyes Workshop

Natural Dyes Workshop

Celebrate Spring with Environmental Discovery Center at Lynches River County Park as you prepare dye baths from plant materials that yield beautiful colors.

Bring your own cooked or blown eggs and color them with dye you prepare naturally and safely.

Note: EDC Staff will have some dyes prepared for immediate use during the workshop, and will also take you through preparing various dyes from plant-stuffs on hand.

REGISTRATION CLOSES MARCH 27TH!  Registration is required.

Mornings at the Museum – History Program for Kids Ages 3-5

Mornings at the Museum is a free interactive program for children ages 3-5 and their accompanying adult. This program is offered during the school year on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The 1st Wednesday of each month will be history related topics. The 3rd Wednesday of each month will be Visual Arts related topics. Each program includes a gallery visit, story time, and hands-on studio activity.
