A young Hare is looking for someone to race when a retired Tortoise comes along. Audiences find out the TRUE story of the Tortoise and the Hare and an important lesson that sometimes it’s not your opponent who beats you– it’s yourself.

Recommended for ages 2-10 and families. Length 45 minutes.

The Florence Symphony Orchestra will present the symphonic fairytale, “Peter and the Wolf” by Sergei Prokofiev, along with the “Toy Symphony” by Haydn on February 23 at 3 pm.

Post concert, children may visit an instrument “Petting Zoo” where they can get an up-close look at the different instruments of the symphony.

Tickets are on sale now at the FMU PAC ticket office for $10, general admission.

Ojo de Dios
Museum Lobby
Create an Ojo de Dios or “God’s Eye” in the style of the Huichol tribe of Mexico. Participants will weave a colorful Ojo de Dios using sticks and yarn.
African Masks
Art Studio
Create a mask inspired by West African ceremonial culture. Participants will decorate a basic mask form, adding bold colors and three-dimensional elements.
Koinobori Windsock
Multipurpose Room
Prepare for spring with a  traditional Japanese windsock, used to celebrate Children’s Day. Participants will create a colorful carp windsock for home display.

2019 Imagination Ball at the Florence County Museum

Let your creativity flow at the 4th Annual Florence County Museum Imagination Ball, a costumed event for the whole family. Enjoy an evening of creative hands-on activities, music, face painting, delicious food, family costume contest, music and more. Tickets are $10 per child or $40 per family. Accompanying adults attend free. Tickets can be purchased at the Florence County Museum or through our website.
All proceeds support educational programming at the Florence County Museum.

The Dr. John M. Thomason Public Library will host a family movie Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

When two beautiful, spotted dogs fall in love and their owners marry; it’s just the start of a wild story as 15 spotted puppies are born. Fifteen puppies transforms into many more puppies after the adventure of a lifetime against the most fashionable villain in animated history.
