Italian pianist Paolo André Gualdi has played recitals in Italy, France, Brazil and the United States for music organizations such as A.Gi.Mus., Accademia Ori, and Accademia Amadeus (Italy); Universidade Federal do Rio Grande so Sul and Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (Brazil); Musée Würth (France); International Piano Series of Charleston, American Liszt Society, Cincinnati Conservatory, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival (U.S.A.). He has recorded for Mark Records and IFO Classics, and his performances have been broadcasted by radios such as NPR and Radio Vaticana.

Free admission, no advance reservations.

Andrew Drannon is a writer and composer based in New York. He hails from Memphis, Tennessee, where he worked as Professor of Music Technology and Composition at Rhodes College. He holds an MFA from NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program and was a composer fellow at the Bang on a Can Summer Festival. In 2018, he formed Awen Productions, an arts organization dedicated to innovative new work that helps people connect.

Tickets to the general public are $5, as space allows.

Evgenia Pirshina was born in Moscow, Russia. She graduated in piano from the Emil Gilels School of Music and in piano and vocal from Moscow State Pedagogical University. She has also participated in masterclasses by Robert Desimone (Britain) and Elizabeth Bice Cavalli (Austria).

Starr Ward Chamber Music Concerts Announces 

the last of Two Special Concerts presented this Spring as part of the Florence Downtown Development Corporation Starr Ward Chamber Music Concerts.

Sunday, May 6 Sara Ann Mitchell Jebaily, soprano

An emerging coloratura soprano, Sara is known for her shimmering voice and engaging stage presence. Most recently, Sara performed the role of the first maid in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with Austin Lyric Opera. As a regular at Des Moines Metro Opera, Ms. Mitchell performed the role of the First Niece in Britten’s Peter Grimes, and covered the roles of Lisette in Pucinni’s La rondine and Sister Constance in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites.

Sara also toured with Opera Iowa, the educational outreach division of Des Moines Metro Opera.

 

The concerts will be performed in the banquet hall of Victor’s Bistro in the Hotel Florence at 5PM. Admission is $10 at the door. A meet the Artist reception will follow.

FLORENCE COUNTY MUSEUM – Mornings at the Museum

The Education Department of the Florence County Museum announces the Mornings at the Museum for 2017 – 2018.

Mornings at the Museum is an interactive program for children ages 3-5 and their accompanying adult. This program is offered during the school year on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The 1st Wednesday of each month will be history related topics. The 3rd Wednesday of each month will be Visual Arts related topics. Each program will include a gallery visit, story time, and hands-on studio activity.
