Florence Little Theatre presents DREAMGIRLS January 24-February 1, 2020.

This powerhouse musical was a Tony and Grammy Award-winning hit on Broadway that became a Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning film sensation! Dreamgirls celebrates the advent of R&B in the 1960s with a Motown-inspired score, dynamic performances, and a moving look behind-the-scenes of the entertainment business. Experience all the onstage joy and backstage drama as an up-and-coming girl group learns hard lessons about love, trust, and what it takes to get to the top. Meet The Dreams – Effie, Lorelle, and Deena – three talented young singers in the turbulent 1960s, a revolutionary time in American music history. With an extraordinary story and unforgettable, spine-tingling vocals, this spectacular musical production soars with the classic songs, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going”, “I Am Changing”, “Listen”, and “One Night Only.”

Dreamgirls is underwritten by Habitat 2000 and ACS Technologies, directed by Cole Davis with musical direction by Jordan Jefferson. Choreography by Brittany Miles. Jones – Carter Gallery | FORMICARIUM Jamey Grimes

Jones – Carter Gallery presents:

An Installation exhibit by artist Jamey Grimes

FORMICARIUM

Opening January 31 through March 14, 2020

Exhibit hours are Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 5pm

105 Henry Street, Lake City, SC 29560

“In Formicarium, plastic surfaces accumulate to form tunnels of light and shadow. Colors change over time, dynamically shifting the viewer’s interpretation of depth and form. A formicarium is a technical term for an ant farm. In this installation, the Jones-Carter gallery is transformed into a box full of tunnels, to be explored by humans, rather than ants. The carved and melted texture of the plastic walls might imply a network of tunnels at a smaller scale.”  Artist Jamey Grimes from Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

TRAX Visual Art Center | Noah James Saunders

TRAX Visual Art Center presents:

The Depth of Wire, A Survey of Noah James Saunders work

Opening Reception January 31, 2020 at 6pm

Exhibit runs through March 21, 2020

Exhibition hours are Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 5pm

122 Sauls Street, Lake City, SC 29560

“I have always dreamed of having a show where I can put my latest art into the context of the process and personal journey out of which it was born. This dream is coming true!

Please join us at the TRAX Visual Art Center for the first ever Survey of Noah James Saunder’s 30 year conversation with wire. This show will feature my very first wire sculptures and all my favorite wire creations whose making paved the way for my most recent, and perhaps most meaning filled sculptures. The latter having been inspired by my most recent art study trip to Italy, which opened my creative soul and lead me to surrender the title of student of my craft, and to begin to create works of significant, lasting meaning.

This survey will also include my jewelry and ceramics juxtaposed with the amazing fabric art of Andrea Wellnitz.”  artist Noah James Saunders.
