Gallery Exhibit by Local Artist Johnny Tanner

Tanner’s interest and art inspiration come from his childhood, seeing Mr. Jules Owens paint the baptistry in Rose Hill Baptist Church, right up the road from the Tanner house. Soon afterward Johnny headed downtown to buy a brush and a couple of tubes of paint. “Mr. Owens painted with earth colors, and those colors make up my palette today,” states Johnny.

Johnny has painted lots of landscapes and ocean waves, imaginary places, and has won many awards for his work over the years. Lately Johnny has moved away from such detailed work and is painting a more impressionistic style of landscape – and even abstracts! landscapes and ocean waves, imaginary places, and has won many awards for his work over the years.
