Live@Central opens the second half of our 12th season at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary of Central United Methodist Church on Wednesday, January 4, with the ever-popular Dr. Mary Louise Nagata. Dr. Nagata is a member of the history faculty at Francis Marion University and the principal violist with the Florence Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Nagata will be playing the violin and viola. As a very special treat, she will also play the Japanese “Koto,” a large stringed instrument. Ann Rogers Chandler will accompany Dr. Nagata on the Schimel piano. Dinner (optional) will be served at 5:30 p.m. The meal cost is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children (12 and under). For the menu, visit www.centralmethodist.net/wednesday. LIVE@CENTRAL! Join us on Wednesday, September 21, as we welcome well-known church historian Bill Segars of Hartsville. Bill will present a PowerPoint presentation about his new book: Churches in South Carolina that were burned during the American Revolution. The program will be held in Spears Fellowship Hall of Central United Methodist Church on the corner of West Cheves and South Irby streets in downtown Florence beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dinner (optional) will be served at 5:30 p.m. The meal cost is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children (12 and under). Hosting McCutcheon Road – featuring vocalist Happy Pendergraft and keyboardist and vocalist Faith Godwin. They will present a program of songs including old favorites, gospel, and Broadway show tunes. They are well-known and perform often with The Lake City Playmakers, The Florence Little Theatre, and The Plaids. The program will be presented in the historic sanctuary of Central United Methodist Church on the corner of West Cheves and South Irby streets in downtown Florence beginning at 6:30 p.m. All LIVE@CENTRAL programs are free of charge.

John Gibson, Pianist.
This well known young Florence pianist will present a recital at Central United Methodist Church March 16 at 6:30 PM in the sanitary. He has appeared as solist with the Florence Symphony Orchestra, the Phillips Academy Chamber Orchestra and with the Napolinova Youth Orchestra at the Todi International Music Masters Festival.is piano training has included masterclasses with famous pianist in Boston and at the Julliard School of Music in New York City. Locally his piano lessons were received from his grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Hoffmeyer. He then continued to receive lessons from local professionals including Dr. Benjamin Woods.
He presently is pursuing a course of study in comparative literature at Princeton University.
