ArtFields® 2019

ArtFields started in 2013 with a simple goal: honor the artists of the Southeast with a week’s worth of celebration and competition in the heart of a traditional Southern small town. The competition and exhibition offers more than $140,000 in cash prizes. The winners of two People’s Choice Awards are determined by the votes of people visiting ArtFields; a panel of art professionals selects all the other awards, including the $50,000 Grand Prize and $25,000 Second Place award.

Up to 400 works of art will be on display in locally-owned venues, from renovated 1920s warehouses and professional art spaces such as Jones-Carter Gallery and TRAX Visual Art Center to the library, the history museum, the Ronald E. McNair Life History Center, restaurants, boutiques and other shops. During ArtFields, what was once one of South Carolina’s most prosperous agricultural communities becomes a living art gallery as we recognize, celebrate and share the artistic talent of the Southeast.

The Florence Regional Arts Alliance is pleased to present its 4th Small Works Juried Competition.

On February 1st at 6:00pm the show opens at NDC Photography Studio in downtown Lake City with a reception at 105 East Main Street. Artists will be awarded the following prizes $500 (First Place), $250 (Second Place), $100 (Third place) and an Honorable Mention.

These works by artists from throughout the state are no larger than 12” x 12” and will be available for purchase. The exhibit is open through February 24th. Gallery hours are Thursday-Friday 11am to 5pm and Saturdays 10am – 2pm.

The show provides a place for the emerging artist to place alongside the professional artist. Organized by the Florence Regional Arts Alliance the show is generously underwritten by The Citizens Bank, the South State Bank, Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union and Marshal’s Marine. The show aims to support the downtown economic revitalization efforts this year by highlighting a new arts space in the area. The size of these pieces allow for an affordable way for local art patrons to either compliment, add to, or begin a personal art collection.

Please note on the evening of the Awards Reception, the Jones-Carter Gallery invites artists and their guest for a special viewing of its current exhibition, (Re)Current.  ArtFields® 2017 Exhibition Award Winners, The ecoFAB Trash Couture Collaborative: Flavia Lovatelli, Francisco Gonzalez, Monique Luck, Teresa Rench, and Marynel Walters.  The Jones-Carter Gallery is located at 105 Henry Street, Lake City, SC 20560.
