Pee Dee Soap Box Derby Exhibition at the Florence County Museum

Pee Dee Soap Box Derby highlights the history of the children’s annual Soap Box Derby race that took place in Florence during the 1960s and 1970s. Experience the excitement of local Soap Box Derby culture through the display of original Pee Dee Soap Box Derby cars and other related objects. Families are invited to participate in the race by using the provided car kits to build their own gravity-powered Pinewood Derby cars to race down the authentic Pinewood Derby track. Learn about the physics of gravity-powered racing while competing against your friends and family to build the car with the fastest track time.

Pee Dee Soap Box Derby opens on September 22, 2015 and will be on display through March 6, 2016. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am-5pm, Sundays 2pm-5pm.
