Family Day at the Florence County Museum

From toddlers to grandparents, Family Day at the Florence County Museum is sure to offer something for everyone. This program includes gallery activities, hands-on studio projects and more. Join us the second Saturday of each month from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for Family Day at the FCM. This monthly program is free and there is no registration required.

Florence County Museum Tours

Exhibit themed public tours take place every Thursday from 2-3pm.  No registration is required and they are lead by museum docents. Tours are free and open to all.

 

Yoga at the Florence County Museum

Take a break from your day to explore the world of yoga in the beautiful setting of the Florence County Museum. Partnering with certified yoga instructors the Museum offers a weekly, hour-long session of Yin/Yang yoga on Tuesday afternoons. A session of Yin/Yang yoga consists of two segments: a Yin segment dedicated to flexibility and intense stretching poses and a Yang segment of very active, flowing poses to raise heart rate and strengthen major muscle groups in the body. These sessions are ideal for adults of all ages who desire a low impact workout. Beginners are welcome!

Each Tuesday afternoon session will begin promptly at 5:30 pm (lobby doors will open at 5:15).

The cost per session is $10 for each participant. Participants are required to prepay online to secure a reservation. You will be prompted to pay after you complete the registration form below. These sessions are free to all museum members and Florence County employees. All participants are required to register using the contact form below. Each week’s registration will close at noon the Monday before that Tuesday’s session, so sign up early to reserve your spot!

Recycle into Art

Design and create artworks with objects that were once something else! Students will think outside the box by exploring new ways to make art using recycled materials. We will also learn the importance of conservation through recycling.

All Around the World

Travel the world in just a week! Students will explore the art of different cultures around the globe through the collections of the Florence County Museum and create artworks inspired by them.

Summer Studios 2015: Book It!

Book It!

Explore the art of bookmaking and discover that there’s more to a book than meets the eye! Students will learn a variety of book binding techniques such as Coptic stitch binding, Japanese stab binding and accordion binding. Students will experiment with painted paper techniques, paper marbling, and create books with secret panels, pockets and pop-ups.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Using the museum’s courtyard, designed by well-known horticulturalist Jenks Farmer, students will learn how to find art in nature by creating a sustainable garden, identifying regional plants, and following a plant from seed to harvest.

Can You Dig it?

Start your summer as an archeologist! Explore the early history of the Pee Dee region through exciting hands-on activities. Students will create fossils, participate in mock excavations and learn about the different people that inhabited our area over time.
