The Education Department of the Florence County Museum announces the Mornings at the Museum for 2017 – 2018.

Mornings at the Museum is an interactive program for children ages 3-5 and their accompanying adult. This program is offered during the school year on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The 1st Wednesday of each month will be history related topics. The 3rd Wednesday of each month will be Visual Arts related topics. Each program will include a gallery visit, story time, and hands-on studio activity.

FCM – Women Artists of Black Mountain College

Florence County Museum invites you to explore the newest exhibit featuring artwork from female artists associated with Black Mountain College.

Learn about this educational experiment that began in 1933 and produced some of the most famous names in 20th Century Art.

Women Artists of Black Mountain College is open through July 22, 2018 in the Special Exhibits Gallery.

The Education Department of the Florence County Museum announces Family Day at the Florence County Museum.

From toddlers to grandparents, Family Days at the Florence County Museum are sure to offer something for everyone. Join the museum the second Saturday of each month for an interactive visual art activity from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for Family Day at the FCM.

Print Detectives

 

 

The Florence County Museum’s, Print Detectives, an interactive exhibit for children and families, explores the wide variety of printmaking processes exhibited throughout the Florence County Museum, along with tools and techniques used in each. Visitors will search for clues as they learn about relief printing, intaglio printing, lithography, and serigraphy.

Become a Print Detective with our interactive FCM Detective Kit. Search the museum for clues with activities to help engage with prints throughout the museum. Make prints at home with a free take-away packet for visitors with simple tools and instructions.

The Florence County Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 am tp 5 pm and Sundays 2 pm to 5 pm.

2018 Pee Dee Regional Art Competition

The Florence County Museum is proud to present the 2018 Pee Dee Regional Art Competition, sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Florence.

The competition aims to highlight the best contemporary art in the Pee Dee region. One of the state’s oldest juried art competitions, the first Pee Dee Regional dates back to 1954 where the competition was held at the former Florence Museum on Spruce Street in Florence, South Carolina.

This year’s exhibition will be on display through March 30 in the FCM Waters Gallery located at 135 South Dargan Street in Florence.

Visitors are invited to inspect this year’s selection and cast their vote for the Jo Ann Fender Scarborough People’s Choice Award. Voting for the People’s Choice Award will be open through Friday, March 23 with the winner being announced on Monday, March 26 via a press release and the museum’s social media.
