The Education Department of the Florence County Museum announces the Mornings at the Museum for 2017 – 2018.

Mornings at the Museum is an interactive program for children ages 3-5 and their accompanying adult. This program is offered during the school year on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The 1st Wednesday of each month will be history related topics. The 3rd Wednesday of each month will be Visual Arts related topics. Each program will include a gallery visit, story time, and hands-on studio activity.

From toddlers to grandparents, Family Days at the Florence County Museum are sure to offer something for everyone. Join the museum the second Saturday of each month for an interactive visual art activity from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for Family Day at the FCM.

Explore the art of Block Printmaking with this hands-on workshop.

Participants will learn the block printmaking process from start to finish:

including image design and transfer, linoleum and rubber block carving,

inking, and printing on paper and fabric. Bring your design ideas and

creativity! All skill levels welcome.

 

9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Lunch Break from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Florence County Museum Adult Studio Workshops Autumn Series:

Series 2:  Analog Meets Digital

Instructor Julie Mixon, Professor of Photography, Francis Marion University

 

Analog meets digital in this hands-on photography workshop. Participants

will create their own one of a kind cyanotype prints using the sun. The

cyanotype process dates back to the mid 1800s and is loved for its brilliant

Prussian blue color. Digital methods will be introduced by creating digital

inkjet negatives and by using a Purell Hand Sanitizer image transfer

process to layer color onto the cyanotype print. All skill levels welcome.
