In celebration of Spinning and Weaving Week, the Carolina Weavers and Spinners Guild will host a demonstration at the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library on October 4 at 6:30 p.m.
Spinning and Weaving Week was conceived in 1981 to celebrate the threads that bind us to our ancestors and to each other.
Karen Medley and Sherry Phillips of Carolina Weavers and Spinners Guild will demonstrate how fibers like wool, cotton, or linen are transformed from their raw state to finished cloth. The Guild is a group of weavers and spinners from the Carolina region whose goal is to introduce the re-vitalized crafts of weaving and spinning techniques to the public.
After the program, the audience will have the opportunity to practice the art of weaving and spinning on looms and a spinning wheel.
The Guild will have some of their work displayed at the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library October 2 -13 in the display cases at the main entrance.
This workshop is made possible by Friends of Florence County Library. Admission is free, but registration is appreciated. For more information or to register, please
